In what can only be described as less than perfect condition the Cabramatta ‘Two blues’ had a mixed start to their season in the NSWRL major competitions.

In front of a good sized crowd the day started on a high with the Sydney Shield ‘ young guns’ snatching victory in the last minutes of the game over the very much fancied Wentworthville team 22 points to 20!.In what was a very entertaining match the Cabra boys fought back on numerous occasions and finally snatched victory with a try in the corner to new recruite, Jarrod considine which had the crowd rise to their feet to celebrate a real piece of Cabra magic.

With the shield boys setting the perfect platform the crowd were all anticipating the Massey boys to repeat the result against the competitions defending premiers. Unfortunately the weather had different ideas and despite a solid start the deteriorating conditions and heavy rain took their toll and the much bigger Wenty side edged ahead and led 16 points to eight at half time.

The half time speech by Coach Chris Yates had a big impact with the Cabra boys coming out and challenging their opposition from the kick off and initially taking wenty out of their comfort zone.

Unfortunately the worsening conditions and a glut of possession took its toll and wenty were able to steady the ship and hold a tenacious Cabra side at bay to finish winners by 22 points to 12. Despite the loss Chris yates was happy within the effort put in by his charges and pointed to the fact that his boys finished one try a piece in the second half.

Next Saturday the ‘Two blues’ are again at home against the Penrith brothers with all three elite teams on show-
